What is IELTS?

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System which tests English proficiency for people around the world. In 2010 alone, there were 1.5 million IELTS tests given globally, As such, IELTS is the world’s most frequently taken high-stakes English language proficiency test. There are two versions of IELTS tests - Academic and General Training. The Academic test is for those who want to be international tertiary level students. The General Training test is for immigration or work purposes. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.

When and where can I take IELTS?

In Perth, Western Australia, there are currently four IELTS test centres:

  • PIBT Test Centre: ECU Mt Lawley Campus
  • PIBT Test Centre: ECU Joondalup Campus
  • UWA IELTS Centre
  • Curtin University of Technology - Test Centre

How do I know which IELTS preparation, English or Mandarin course of ACEIC is suitable for me?

You can call us on 08-9361 6188/ 0411 215 728 or make an appointment to come to see us in our office at Unit 1, 353 Shepperton Rd, East Victoria Park. We will match the most suitable course for you based on your current language level or our initial assessment on your English skills. We will also consider what band of IETLS or what level of Mandarin or English you want to achieve through the study, your available time and other relevant situations in order to put together the most suitable and effective course and plan for you.

If I plan to take the IELTS test, when should I start an IELTS preparation course?

Depending on your current English level and your targeted IELTS results, you normally need to prepare for the IELTS a few months in advance. If you are looking at improving IELTS by 0.5, you will need to consider taking an IELTS course 2-3 months in advance. If you need to improve by 1, you should start preparation at least 3-4 months ahead. It is best to speak to one of our experienced teachers as soon as possible, so that they can advise which IELTS preparation course is most suitable for you.

How are the IELTS courses being taught?

The IELLTS preparation courses are normally taught in English. However, for lower English level students, especially 457 workers, we offer bilingual teaching. The IELTS classes are normally a small group of 4-12 students. We focus on teaching you essential IELTS test strategies through detailed explanation and real exam paper practice. We also give students feedback and analysis of the exam papers in order for them to learn from mistakes and lean from every practice.

How are the Mandarin courses being taught?

If you are interested to learn Mandarin with us, you have found the right place. We offer specialised courses to suit different clients’ needs. You may be a businessman needing to learn Mandarin for your business with or in China. You may have a Chinese girlfriend or wife and would like to learn her language and communicate with her family. You may be simply fascinated in the Chinese language and would like to learn Mandarin so that you can travel to China or learn more about Chinese culture. Whatever reason is behind your motivation to learn Mandarin, we can customise the lessons to suit your needs and your purpose of the language learning. The courses can be taught in small groups of on individual basis. Individual tutorials are more flexible in terms of sechduling.

Are the teachers experienced?

Our teachers (including IELTS preparation course teachers, practical English teachers and Mandarin teachers) are all experienced language teachers. They normally have lots of experience of teaching students from different background at various levels. Our teachers are extremely dedicated to their teaching and students. Students' study results are part of the measures of their teaching performance. So, all the teachers do their best to help every student achieve their goals.

If I am interested in one of ACEIC's courses (any of the IELTS preparation courses, English courses or Mandarin courses) how should I apply and enroll?

It is best if you can come to our college to apply and enroll. However, you can also apply online through emailing us your application form which you can download from our website on the "Courses" page. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to confirm which course is best suited for you and how much the total tuition you should pay. Payment can be done through online banking or bank deposit.

When and how should I pay for the courses?

You will need to pay for the course before a new course starts or before you can start if you join a class which has already started. We can only secure a place for you once we have received your completed payment.
You can pay by EFTPOS, credit card (1.5% surcharge apply), cash, online banking, or bank deposit.
