Public transport may be the suitable travel alternative for you.

  • It is much cheaper than the overall cost of driving (insurance, petrol, parking, etc.).
  • Many journeys (especially long distance) can be quicker and less stressful than driving, even giving time for rest.
  • You can combine public transport with cycling or walking, creating more personal health benefits.
  • By using public transport you can help reduce parking problems, traffic congestion, and noise and air pollution.

TRANSPERTH
Transperth is the public transport system, which manages all public transport means, making sure they compliment each otherí»s timetables and costs. Transperth provides services such as FTZ and concessions to ensure that its passengers spend as little as possible whenever they use public transport.

Free Transit Zone ( FTZ )
All public transport is free between Kings Park and the Causeway, which basically covers the whole central business district (CBD). You can travel free on any bus, train or ferry within the FTZ. However, if you intend to travel outside of the FTZ, a valid ticket must be purchased and fares apply from the stop you first board to your final destination.

Perth free bus service CAT (Central Area Transit) operates around the CBD. The bus-stops have smart information technology that will tell you when the next bus is arriving. All public transport facilities strictly obey schedules. One thing to be careful of is that public transport is less frequent on weekends and public holidays.

Concessions
Full-time international students are entitled to concession on public transport. Students must purchase a Tertiary SmartRider Card from their University. Using the SmartRider Card saves over 15% on cash fares.
